Sirens sounded in Jordan’s capital city of Amman on Friday morning, Iran’s semi-official Tasnim News Agency reported.
Tasnim said that the sirens were triggered by an Iranian missile attack on a US military base in Jordan, claiming that the attack targeted the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base, a key hub for US military activities.
On Thursday evening, sirens sounded in Kuwait, according to reports from state news agency KUNA.
The Kuwaiti army reported that the country’s air defense systems were intercepting “hostile Iranian drone threats.”
Local sources said that Iran had launched drone and missile attacks at the Al-Salem airbase in Kuwait, Tasnim reported.
The Al-Salem base is primarily used by the Kuwait and US Air Forces, and is a major operational and logistical hub for US forces in the region.
IRGC- affiliated Tasnim News Agency reported that the base’s Patriot air defense systems had been activated.
Iraq, Kuwait border crossing targeted
Earlier on Thursday, the Kuwaiti Army announced it was intercepting Iranian hostile drone and missile threats in its airspace on Thursday.
“The General Staff of the Army notes that if explosion sounds are heard, they are the result of air defense systems intercepting the hostile attacks,” said the Kuwaiti military in a statement.
Additionally, a border crossing between Kuwait and Iraq was targeted by drones, said Kuwait’s military in a post on X/Twitter, citing Defense Ministry Spokesperson Brig.-Gen. Saud Abdulaziz Al-Otaibi.
“The Abdali border crossing was subjected, this evening, to repeated targeting by hostile drones, which resulted in material damage, with no human injuries recorded,” said the post.
