Two people were killed, and six were injured in traffic accidents throughout Israel over the weekend.
On Saturday, a man in his 40s was killed in a hit-and-run on Route 553 near Moshav Porat. Magen David Adom (MDA) paramedics called to the scene found him with severe multi-system trauma and no signs of life, and were forced to pronounce him dead.
The driver, a woman in her 30s, was arrested shortly after fleeing the crash site and taken in for questioning.
Overnight on Friday, a 48-year-old motorcyclist was killed while driving on Highway 7 at the Sorek Interchange.
Also on Friday, a 4-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle near his home’s parking area in Pisgat Ze’ev; he was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Accidents across the nation, including motorcycle collisions
In another Friday accident, a two-vehicle collision on Route 3755 left a 50-year-old man seriously injured, while two others sustained light to moderate injuries. Firefighters extricated two of the victims after they were trapped in their vehicles.
Near the Caesarea Port, a 30-year-old man was critically injured in a crash and rushed to the hospital with multi-system trauma.
In Netanya, a motorcyclist was severely injured after being hit by a car and was also taken to the hospital.
MDA paramedic Orian Lukac and senior EMT Maor Nino from MDA’s motorcycle unit said: “This was a severe accident. Witnesses told us the motorcyclist was hit by a vehicle. He was unconscious with a severe head injury. We provided medical treatment and evacuated him to the hospital in an MDA intensive care unit vehicle in serious condition.”
