Firefighters and MDA medics responded to a fire that broke out in a nursing home in Bnei Brak Wednesday morning, injuring 24, two of whom are in serious and unstable condition, according to Fire and Rescue and MDA.
The two seriously injured men, who are about 70 and 80, have been sedated and are on ventilators, with burns to their upper bodies. Four additional individuals between 50 and 80 sustained moderate injuries, and 18 with minor injuries.
The injured people were evacuated to Sheba Medical Center, Beilinson Hospital, Ichilov Hospital, and Mayanei Hayeshua Medical Center.
Some 40 residents evacuated, including those trapped in burning apartment
The fire broke out in an apartment on the first floor of the eight-story building, and about 40 residents were evacuated from the building. Firefighters worked to extinguish the fire and conducted extensive searches for anyone trapped. Several residents were found trapped in the burning apartment, according to Fire and Rescue.
