IDF commanders, soldiers, and equipment were used without higher authorization to host a group of VIP customers from a private production company, KAN News reported on Thursday.

The company released a video in which its customers, including children and at least two babies, are given a tour of an IDF base in the Jordan Valley, with a briefing from a commander and an ATV ride accompanied by soldiers.

KAN reported that the company’s advertisements offer “exclusive VIP services 24 hours a day” and that company employees promised them a meet-and-greet and tour with IDF combat soldiers.

Guests in IDF base ‘raise questions’

In response to the event, representatives from the Israeli security establishment told KAN that a military base is “not a tourist site, and certainly is not meant to turn into part of a private company’s VIP package.”

“The fact that the guests walked around an operational area, alongside fighters and specialized equipment, also raises questions regarding procedures, information security, and operational discipline,” they stated.

The IDF also responded directly to the event, stating that “Last weekend, a civilian visit took place that was not approved through the usual channels. The incident is being investigated. The purpose of the visit was to donate a barbecue to the battalion.”
