Japanese Officials Step Up Verbal Intervention; Yen Mixed

The yen was little changed against the dollar. Japanese officials stepped up verbal intervention Friday as the dollar hovered near 160 yen, widely seen as a threshold for actual intervention to prop up Japan’s currency.
