Sirens sounded in Kuwait on Thursday morning, according to reports from the Kuwait Interior Ministry.
The Kuwaiti army said that the country’s air defense systems were intercepting “hostile Iranian drone threats.”
Hours later, an oil tanker caught on fire after hitting an Iranian mine in the Strait of Hormuz on Thursday morning.
The IRGC spokesperson claimed responsibility for the attack, saying, “Three oil tankers, incited and tempted by the US military, attempted to pass through a mined area south of the Strait of Hormuz; following a massive explosion and fire aboard one of the vessels, the other two quickly turned around and retreated.”
The statement claimed that the Strait of Hormuz is under IRGC control, a claim that US Central Command refuted on Wednesday evening.

IRGC will continue strikes on gulf until US attacks on Iran end
The IRGC spokesperson added that US interventions in Iran “have no effect on the world except the energy crisis and the reduction of agricultural fertilizers.”
“These evils will not result in anything for you except greater discredit and the irreparable defeat that you will soon taste,” they threatened.
The Revolutionary Guards added that they had achieved “victory over the aggressor enemy [The US].”
