A network established by the founder of Palestine Action US has helped fund and develop a web of media outlets used to promote its radical messaging, with the network extending into organizations connected to Iranian state media.
This was revealed exclusively to The Jerusalem Post by Honest Reporting on Wednesday.
Honest Reporting’s investigation maps a media ecosystem allegedly funded or supported by the network behind US-designated terrorist group Palestine Action, showing how its ideology and messaging spread through seemingly independent outlets.
Palestine Action is an anti-Israel protest group founded in the UK in 2020. Its work – before its proscription by the UK in 2025 – mainly involved the vandalism and destruction of defense factories, companies and Israel-linked institutions.
A US branch of Palestine Action was launched in October 2023 by multi-millionaire heir turned communist activist James Cox ‘Fergie’ Chambers. Palestine Action US describes itself as a “direct action network.” The UK branch was recently designated and sanctioned by the US Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) in August 2026. The US branch has not been designated.
Founder facing extradition to the US over Hamas financing, support
Chambers is currently facing extradition from Spain to the US over alleged Hamas financing and Hamas support. The Irish Times cited Chambers’ partner Stella Schnabel as saying he is accused of providing Hamas with $7.5 million in funding. He himself received $250 million after divesting from his family’s media conglomerate, Cox Enterprises, in 2023, according to his spokesperson.
In July 2026, Chambers tweeted, “If Pal Action is terrorism, terrorism is awesome.”
The Post also found a November 2023 interview with the LA Magazine where Chambers said he uses some of this wealth to pay the legal fees for members of UK Palestine Action.
Under Chambers’ leadership, a wider network was born.
In July 2023, ahead of the creation of the US branch of Palestine Action, Chambers and a few of his “comrades” created the Babochki Collective, described as “a cadre collective focused on revolutionary funding, propaganda and political education, direct action/legal support, and the open proliferation of a steadily stronger anti-imperialist united front.”
Among the Babochki founders was Palestine Action co-founder Calla Walsh as well as Paige Belanger, both of whom participated in a November 2023 Palestine Action vandalism attack on a New Hampshire Elbit Systems facility.
According to Honest Reporting, Chambers and Babochki have financially backed and founded several news outlets and organizations, “expanding their violent radicalism across the information landscape.”
The financial records of the Babochki Collective show that it transferred $350,000 to the Atlanta Community Press Collective, “an abolitionist” nonprofit media organization, on October 9, 2023. The Atlanta outlet itself lists Babochki among its donors.
Additionally, as reported by the Free Press, Chambers’ Alford compound housed the journal Combat Liberalism and the Berkshire Communists (the former edited by Chambers and the latter founded by him).
Furthermore, according to Chambers himself, Babochki gave three financial grants to anti-Zionist news outlet Mondoweiss: two grants in the first three months of the Collective’s operation, and $20,000 in October 2023.
Radical outlets funded by communist heir of Cox Enterprises
The financial relationship was accompanied by direct publishing ties. Mondoweiss published two pieces under the byline of Palestine Action US, including the group’s May 2024 manifesto, “Flood the Gates: Escalate.” The piece called for escalation from protests and blockades to “sabotage and dismantling” of what it described as genocidal infrastructure, and called for building an infrastructure of militancy.
Additionally, Babochki is understood to have funded Sovereign Media, which describes itself as a “Nairobi-based socialist and anti-imperialist news outlet,” and as a coalition of “anti-imperialist” outlets.
Sovereign Media has published articles proclaiming that “Israel is not Africa’s friend,” and that the Jewish state was using Somaliland as a “pawn” in its war against Palestinians.
On Sovereign Media’s social media, it revealed that it has received significant funding from Chambers and the Babochki Collective.
In a February 2026 X/Twitter post, Sovereign Media said it was “funded by The Babochki Collective,” while insisting that its reporting was not influenced by Chambers. In the same post, it said Chambers and Babochki had donated $1 million to Palestinian causes.
Sovereign Media is additionally part of a media coalition with another Babochki-backed project, Vox Ummah.
Vox Ummah is an Islamic ‘anti-imperialist’ site founded in May 2025 with support from Chambers.
Its editor and political director is Shabbir Rizvi, who is also a contributor to Sovereign Media and a member of Babochki. He also maintains connections to pro-terror media networks, serving as a contributor to the pro-Hezbollah Al Mayadeen and Iranian state media outlet Press TV.
“The Palestine Action US-linked media network shows how radical groups attempt to influence populations beyond just physical acts, but also through the advancement of propaganda outlets and mouthpieces,” Honest Reporting told the Post.
“The close ties of Iranian state media with the Babochki-backed news coalition also show how these propaganda efforts are being enhanced by state actors. The extended Palestine Action US network should be scrutinized not only after its terrorism designation, but also for suspected ties to Iran.”
