Fresh faces

Dozens of Democrats are vying for seats on the House Energy and Commerce and Ways and Means committees in anticipation of Democrats winning back control of that chamber.

Several members from both parties are either leaving or in close races. If Republicans lose the House, most of the departing Republicans will not be replaced by GOP colleagues. But it’s a major opportunity for Democratic lawmakers to get a seat on the high-profile committees, both of which have broad jurisdiction over health care policies.
