European Union and NATO member Latvia issued an air threat alert for some of its eastern parts that border Russia and Belarus, its Armed Forces said on X/Twitter on Friday.

Less than an hour later, it ended the air threat alert, stating that allied fighter jets had shot down a drone in its airspace.

Finland, which also shares a border with Russia, imposed a temporarily restricted area for aviation and maritime traffic in the eastern Gulf of Finland, its defense forces said on X.

This is a developing story.
