Eight Palestinian residents of the West Bank were found illegally living in an apartment in Beersheba during a police enforcement operation last week, prompting Southern District Police Commander Haim Bublil to sign an administrative order closing the property for 30 days.
On August 16, Beersheba police officers arrived at the divided apartment as part of an enforcement operation and found the eight residents, who had been staying in Israel without permits, inside.
Police arrested the residents and transported them to the Beersheba police station for questioning.
Attempted illegal crossing at Tarkumiya
Earlier this month, police uncovered another case involving individuals without permits when five Palestinian residents were found inside a vehicle that had been stopped for inspection at the Tarkumiya Crossing.
The vehicle was halted due to the suspicions of the officers stationed at the crossing.
Authorities reportedly discovered two of the suspects hiding in the trunk of the vehicle. The driver, a resident of Petah Tikva in his 30s, was arrested on suspicion of transporting them while his driver’s license was suspended.
According to police, the five individuals were attempting to enter Israel without the necessary permits.
Police arrested both the driver and the five residents and took them in for further questioning at the police station.
