Vera Therapeutics said Tuesday that its recently approved drug Trutakna stabilized kidney function and reduced the risk of kidney-related death and other complications in patients with a chronic autoimmune kidney disease, according to final, two-year results from a Phase 3 clinical trial.
In July, the Food and Drug Administration granted accelerated approval to Trutakna for the treatment of IgA nephropathy, or IgAN, a disease caused by the buildup of immune antibodies in the kidneys. The condition leads to progressive loss of kidney function and potentially organ failure requiring dialysis.
With the final data from the study in hand, Vera said it will seek full approval of the drug from the FDA during the fourth quarter.
