The IDF thwarted a car-ramming attack against soldiers stationed at a West Bank checkpoint near Jenin on Sunday, ahead of the Yom Kippur holiday.
No injuries were reported, the military said.
In the incident, which took place in the Ganim area of the Menashe Brigade’s sector of the northern West Bank, the military said it had killed one terrorist and arrested a second who had attempted to run over soldiers at the checkpoint.
IDF troops and Border Police officers are operating at the scene.
Ganim was re-established by settler families in August, 21 years after Israel withdrew its citizens from the area under the 2005 disengagement plan overseen by former prime minister Ariel Sharon.

The attempted ramming attack comes an hour after one person was killed in a drive-by shooting terror attack took place at a spring near Neveh Tzuf.
According to initial reports, the terrorist opened fire at Israelis bathing in a nearby spring from what appears to be a red Mitsubishi SUV with Palestinian Authority license plates. He then exited the vehicle armed and fled the scene on foot.
He was evacuated by helicopter to Rabin Medical Center-Beilinson Campus in Petah Tikva, before succumbing to his wounds.
A manhunt for the terrorist is underway.
IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. Eyal Zamir conducted a situational assessment and ordered the deployment of additional security forces to the sector to aid in a manhunt.
