Argentine President Javier Milei visited Yeshiva Darchei Torah in Far Rockaway, Queens, on Tuesday during his trip to New York for the UN General Assembly, where students and members of the Jewish community warmly welcomed him.
During the visit, Milei addressed those in attendance and received the “Ohev Yisrael” (Lover of Israel) award, presented in recognition of his support for Israel and the Jewish people.
According to the Argentine president’s office, the event was held on Tuesday as part of Milei’s schedule in New York. Footage released afterward showed the president surrounded by yeshiva students. On his way out, he joined them in dancing to Jewish music.

Videos from the event circulated on social media and drew attention amid the close relationship Milei has cultivated with the Jewish community and Israel since taking office.
In his speech at the yeshiva, Milei thanked his hosts for presenting him with the award and said he viewed it as a commitment to continue supporting the Jewish people.
The president also discussed his economic and political worldview, linking moral values to economic policy and defending the principles of private property, liberty, and free markets. He criticized communism and argued that every economic system is also rooted in a moral outlook.
Milei heads to UN General Assembly for meetings with officials, businesspeople
The yeshiva visit was part of a broader diplomatic trip by the Argentine president to the United States. Milei traveled to New York to participate in the UN General Assembly, and his schedule in the city also included meetings with American officials, businesspeople, and economists.
Since taking office, Milei has repeatedly voiced his support for Israel and emphasized his connection to Judaism. His visit to the yeshiva and his dance with the students also produced unusual images of a sitting president taking part in a Jewish celebration in the heart of New York.
His hosts presented him with the award as a mark of appreciation for his public positions and continued support for the State of Israel.
According to Argentine media, the visit to the educational institution had been scheduled in advance as part of the president’s official itinerary. Following the ceremony, Milei continued with additional meetings in New York ahead of his address to the UN General Assembly and a further series of diplomatic and economic meetings planned during his visit to the United States.
