Air India is set to return to Israel, with five direct flights a week between Delhi and Tel Aviv planned to begin on December 1, N12 News reported.
According to the report, the Indian flag carrier most recently resumed flights in March 2025 following an intermittent hiatus amid the Gaza war after the October 7 massacre, but then stopped flights again in May 2025 shortly after a Houthi ballistic missile impacted Ben-Gurion Airport.
The report noted that the airline also briefly resumed flights in March 2024, stopped them in April 2024, resumed in May 2024, then stopped again in August 2024.
As the only carrier operating directly between the two countries, Air India’s return will reopen possibilities for Israeli and Indian travelers, who have had to rely on layover flights during its absence.
Air India to join Delta, United in Ben-Gurion’s list of foreign long-haul carriers
Once flights resume, the company will join Ben-Gurion Airport’s list of foreign long-haul carriers, which currently includes US carriers Delta Air Lines and United Airlines.
Delta resumed its JFK-Tel Aviv route on September 7, while United resumed its similar Newark-Tel Aviv route two days later.
