Invesco is working with Anthropic to bring its portfolio information and practice-management research into Claude for Financial Advisors, the asset manager announced Tuesday, adding another established investment firm’s resources to the AI assistant’s financial-services tools.
The new Invesco connector is aimed at financial advisors already using the company’s model portfolios. Rather than requiring an advisor to leave an AI conversation to look up Invesco material separately, the connection is designed to put portfolio intelligence and business-development research into the advisor’s daily workflow.
Invesco described the information as educational, not investment advice or a recommendation. The announcement does not say Claude will independently select investments, move client money or place trades.
Portfolio research inside the advisor’s workflow
The asset manager said existing model-portfolio advisors will be able to access portfolio information directly through Claude, covering both Invesco’s ready-made portfolios and custom models developed with individual advisory businesses.
A model portfolio is a prepared mix of investments that an advisor can use as a starting point for managing client accounts. Invesco said its solutions include active, passive, factor-based and tax-aware approaches, with custom models reflecting a firm’s asset-allocation, manager and investment preferences.
The connector also brings a second kind of material into the conversation: research on running an advisory business. Invesco cited its referrals program, including personalized scripts and business-development support, as an example of what advisors will be able to access.
John McDonough, Invesco’s head of Americas distribution, said the aim is to combine the firm’s model portfolios with its practice-management support so advisors can spend more time on client conversations. That is the company’s stated goal; Tuesday’s release did not provide an independent measure of time saved or improved investment results.
A connection to an existing platform
This is an announcement about Invesco’s connection to Claude for Financial Advisors, not the launch of the broader advisor platform itself. Invesco said that platform supports work such as preparing for client meetings and explaining portfolio changes, with connections to software firms already use for customer records, custody, reporting, financial planning and meetings.
Anthropic’s public connector listing also describes Invesco’s role as providing solutions and practice support for advisors. The connection is a way to bring a firm’s specialized information into an AI workflow; it does not turn every AI answer into a personalized recommendation suitable for a particular household.
For clients, the distinction matters because portfolio information is only one part of financial advice. Invesco’s own release tells investors to consult a financial professional before making investment decisions and says the company does not provide tax advice.
Details still to be specified
Tuesday’s announcement did not disclose financial terms for the Anthropic work, separate connector pricing or a detailed rollout calendar. Its forward-looking language says advisors will be able to access the information; it does not establish that every existing Invesco advisor can use every feature immediately.
Invesco reported $2.5 trillion in assets under management as of June 30. The company is applying its investment research and advisor-support business to a new software channel, while keeping the stated purpose of the connector limited to educational information.
