632,505 ballots were included in Israel’s official election count Tuesday night, according to the Central Elections Committee, but the tally remained an early, nonrepresentative sample that could shift as more polling stations reported. The total was equivalent to about 8.6% of the 7,331,981 registered voters listed on the committee’s page, not a turnout figure or a nationwide result.
The committee’s national results page listed returns from 1,660 polling stations. Of the ballots recorded, 629,580 were valid and 2,925 were invalid.
The page was marked as of 3:24 a.m. Wednesday, October 28, in Israel, corresponding to 9:24 p.m. Tuesday Eastern time. JBizNews checked the page at 9:28 p.m. Eastern.
The expanding tally is a count of ballots reported so far, not a representative national sample. It remains too incomplete to establish a winner, parliamentary seat totals or a governing majority. This update does not project any of those outcomes.
The registered-voter comparison describes the size of the published tally relative to the electorate. It does not measure how many people cast ballots. The number of ballots already counted and published is different from the number of people who voted.
The committee warns that results may change until final results are published by November 4. As additional polling stations are added, both the total number of ballots and the composition of the count can change.
