Binance said Saturday it has replenished 90% of the cryptocurrency assets affected by its security breach, up from about 80% in its previous update, while keeping Sunday as its target for reopening withdrawals.
In its third recovery update, published at 10:30 a.m., the exchange said it would continue buying the remaining affected tokens through market transactions and over-the-counter channels until all were fully covered.
The announcement is a further step beyond Binance’s earlier pledge to cover losses from the roughly $6.3 billion incident. Replenishment means replacing assets backing customer balances, not recovering that proportion of the cryptocurrency taken by attackers.
Binance said bitcoin, ether, USDT, BNB, SOL, USDC, XRP, USD1, RLUSD and ZEC were now fully backed. The outstanding 10% consists of other, less-liquid tokens that may take longer to buy in the quantities required, it said.
The exchange said the funding sources include its corporate treasury, a portion of its Futures insurance fund and a partial deployment of its Secure Asset Fund for Users, or SAFU. It said the SAFU deployment was expected over the following 24 hours.
Binance also said it took a new proof-of-reserves snapshot at midnight UTC on October 31. But the full cryptographic proof was not yet available: the company estimated it would be ready by Tuesday, November 3, citing the time needed to generate it.
The reserve-backing figures remain Binance’s claims. Saturday’s update did not say withdrawals had reopened; the exchange said it remained on track for Sunday, November 1, and would confirm details in a further announcement.
