The U.S. Embassy in Moscow issued a security alert Saturday warning of a credible threat of a mass-casualty event at the Tsaritsyno Museum Reserve and urging people to avoid the location.
The October 31 embassy alert identified the museum reserve at Dolskaya Ulitsa 1 in Moscow and said the threat concerned that day.
“The U.S. government is coordinating with appropriate Russian authorities on a response,” the embassy said.
The notice told people to avoid the museum reserve and surrounding area, remain alert and stay away from crowds. It also advised them to monitor local media, review their personal security plans, keep cellphones charged and carry proper identification.
The embassy did not identify a suspected attacker, describe a planned method or provide a specific time for the threatened event. The notice was a threat warning, not an announcement that an attack had occurred, and it did not report casualties.
Americans seeking assistance can contact the embassy at +7 495 728-5577 or MoscowACS@state.gov. The alert also encouraged U.S. citizens to enroll in the State Department’s Smart Traveler Enrollment Program for security updates.
