Baptist Health announced Monday, November 2, that it acquired the Jacksonville Beach and Southside locations of Pediatric Care Centers, adding two practices to its Northeast Florida pediatric network. The change took effect Sunday, November 1, and patients will continue to see their same care teams at the existing offices.
The practices now operate as Baptist Jacksonville Beach Pediatrics and Baptist Southside Pediatrics, according to First Coast News and the health system’s announcement. Neither account disclosed a purchase price.
The Jacksonville Beach practice remains at 274 Third Avenue South, while the Southside practice remains at 8990 RG Skinner Parkway in Jacksonville. The acquisition changes the offices’ affiliation and names, not the locations or care teams identified in the announcement.
Pediatric Care Centers’ Fleming Island office is not part of the transaction. It will continue operating independently under the Pediatric Care Centers name, rather than joining the two acquired practices in Baptist Health’s network.
Baptist said the additions are intended to connect community-based pediatric care more closely with its wider system, including specialized hospital services at Wolfson Children’s Hospital. That is the health system’s stated aim; the announcement did not provide measured changes in access, cost or patient outcomes following the acquisition.
Eric Fletcher, Baptist Health’s executive vice president and chief strategy officer, said families should be able to get care close to home and reach Wolfson’s specialized services when needed. He described the practices’ addition as a step toward a more connected pediatric system.
For current patients, Baptist’s central message was continuity: the two acquired offices remain in place with the same care teams. The Fleming Island location remains outside the deal.
