Warsaw-Modlin Airport said Tuesday that it was closed until further notice after a London Heathrow flight bound for Warsaw Chopin Airport diverted to Modlin following a reported bomb threat.
In its November 3 official notice, the airport said 181 people were aboard the Boeing 737 MAX, which landed at Modlin at 10:01 a.m. local time. The alert had been raised at 9:54 a.m., the notice said.
The aircraft was directed to a designated area while security services, including bomb-disposal teams, assessed the reported threat, the airport said. Its notice said the airport would remain closed until further notice while the checks continued.
Reuters, via The Jerusalem Post, also reported the closure and said security services were verifying information about a possible explosive device aboard. The reports do not confirm that a device was found.
