A 30-agent brokerage based in Dubuque, Iowa, is joining Real Brokerage under the name The Team, adding a regional operation that serves buyers and sellers in Iowa, Illinois and southern Wisconsin.
Leaders Cody Burger and Dennis Buchheit are moving the business, previously known as Unlimited, to Real, the company said Tuesday. HousingWire reported the move as part of Real’s expansion in the Midwest.
The group has completed about 5,000 transactions with a combined value of $1.2 billion since 2020, according to Real’s announcement. That figure is cumulative property sales volume over several years, not the price of the brokerage move or a newly announced $1.2 billion transaction.
A tri-state base for recruitment
The Team’s current territory includes Dubuque, Galena in Illinois, and southern Wisconsin. Burger and Buchheit plan to recruit in additional markets and use Real’s technology platform to reduce administrative work and support their agents.
The announcement puts the group on track to complete 500 transactions in 2026. That is a company projection for the year, separate from the approximately 5,000 transactions it says the business has completed since 2020.
Buchheit has more than 30 years of real estate experience and co-owns businesses in property management, insurance, heating and air conditioning, cleaning and construction. He brought Burger into Unlimited in 2020 to run the company. Their partnership preceded a merger with another large regional brokerage, according to the announcement.
Burger has continued to sell property while handling ownership and operating responsibilities. Real said he is on track for approximately $15 million in personal transaction volume this year. As with the team’s annual transaction target, that remains a forward-looking company estimate rather than a completed-year total.
Platform support, not a disclosed purchase price
The leaders described technology and the ability to focus on growth as reasons for the switch. Burger said moving to Real would give him more time to serve clients, develop agents and enter new markets instead of managing every aspect of daily operations.
Real growth executive Joel Kirsch cited the group’s regional presence and operating experience in welcoming it to the platform. Those statements describe the company’s expectations for the relationship, not results already achieved after the move.
The announcement did not disclose a purchase price or provide financial terms for the change. The figures attached to The Team describe its historical production and current-year goals; they should not be read as consideration paid by Real.
For the local business, the next phase is a change in brokerage platform and branding while its leaders pursue recruitment and geographic expansion. For Real, the addition brings a 30-agent operation in a market spanning three states, with the future pace of growth still to be demonstrated.
