Democrats are projected to flip Republican-held House seats in Colorado and New Jersey, while Stefany Shaheen is projected to keep New Hampshire’s 1st District in Democratic hands and Darializa Avila Chevalier is projected to win New York’s 13th District, according to CBS News’ election-night coverage.
Rutinel projected to flip Colorado’s 8th District
CBS projects Democrat Manny Rutinel will defeat Republican Rep. Gabe Evans in Colorado’s 8th Congressional District. Evans had flipped the seat to Republican control in 2024, making the projected result a Democratic pickup.
Bennett projected to defeat Kean in New Jersey

CBS projects Democrat Rebecca Bennett will defeat Republican Rep. Tom Kean Jr. in New Jersey’s 7th Congressional District. The projection would move the seat from Republican to Democratic control.
Shaheen projected to hold New Hampshire seat

CBS projects Democrat Stefany Shaheen will win New Hampshire’s 1st District. The former Portsmouth city councilor would succeed Democratic Rep. Chris Pappas, who ran for the Senate, keeping the seat in Democratic hands.
Avila Chevalier projected to win New York’s 13th

CBS also projects Darializa Avila Chevalier will win New York’s 13th Congressional District. She defeated Democratic Rep. Adriano Espaillat in the party’s primary earlier this year, CBS reported. The general-election projection is distinct from that earlier primary result.
These are individual race projections, not election certifications or a projection about control of the full House.
