Republican Rep. Barry Moore is projected to defeat Democrat Everett Wess in Alabama’s U.S. Senate election, according to the Fox News Decision Desk and NBC News.
Moore would succeed Republican Sen. Tommy Tuberville, who gave up the seat to run for governor. The projected result keeps the seat in Republican hands.
Fox reported that Moore had President Donald Trump’s backing in the race. Wess is a former judge and prosecutor.
The result is a media projection, not election certification.
