Democrat Aaron Ford is projected to defeat Republican Gov. Joe Lombardo in Nevada, flipping the governor’s office to Democratic control.
The Associated Press called the race for Ford, Nevada’s attorney general, early Wednesday. NBC News also projected Ford as the winner.
Ford will become Nevada’s first Black governor, according to AP. He has served as the state’s attorney general since 2019.
For Nevada families, the result means new state leadership and a change in the party running the governor’s office.
