Israel’s average monthly wage rose faster than inflation in September, but a separate set of August figures showed fewer jobs in the country’s technology sector.
The average wage for Israeli workers reached NIS 14,515 in September 2026, up 3.8% from a year earlier, according to preliminary Central Bureau of Statistics estimates reported by Globes on Wednesday. Annual inflation over that period was 1.6%.
For workers, that means average pay increased faster than the overall cost of living. The national average does not mean every employee received a raise, and the technology figures cover a different month.
September wages, August technology jobs
The preliminary September estimates put the number of salaried jobs in the economy at 4.1 million, up 1.3% from September 2025 but down 1.3% from August.
In technology, the average monthly wage per salaried position was NIS 33,478 in August, up 3.3% from August 2025. The sector had 394,000 jobs that month, down 0.6% from a year earlier and 0.7% from July, according to the figures cited by Globes.
Technology positions accounted for 9.5% of jobs across the economy. The combination of higher average pay and fewer positions shows why wage growth alone does not describe the job market facing applicants.
