A ticket sold in New Jersey won Wednesday night’s Powerball jackpot, putting a life-changing prize in the Garden State. The New York Post reported an estimated $847 million annuity prize, with a $363.1 million cash option.
Powerball’s official results list New Jersey as the jackpot winner for the November 4 drawing. The winning numbers were 15, 34, 41, 53 and 56, with red Powerball 21. The Power Play multiplier was 2x.
The headline prize is not the cash payout
The two prize amounts reported by the Post early Thursday represent different payment choices, not two prizes added together.
Powerball says jackpot winners can choose an annuity paid in 30 graduated payments over 29 years or a lump-sum payment. Both advertised options are before federal and jurisdictional taxes.
That distinction matters when reading the $847 million headline: it is the estimated annuity amount reported by the Post, not the amount available as an immediate cash payment. The Post put the one-time cash option at $363.1 million before taxes.
Jackpot resets for Saturday
Powerball’s official site lists the next drawing for Saturday, November 7, with an estimated jackpot of $20 million and a cash value of $8.6 million.
For New Jersey players checking Wednesday’s tickets, the official combination is 15-34-41-53-56 and Powerball 21. Powerball says the jackpot requires matching all five white balls, in any order, and the red Powerball.
