Animoca Brands announced Monday, November 2, that its Abu Dhabi subsidiary has received permission to manage collective investment funds in or from ADGM, expanding the digital-assets company’s regulated investment-management operations in the Middle East.
The authorization was granted by ADGM’s Financial Services Regulatory Authority to Animoca Asset Management (AD) Limited, the company said in its announcement. The stated regulated activity is managing a collective investment fund.
The announcement concerns a financial-services permission for the subsidiary, not an announced launch or approval of a particular investment product. Animoca did not name a new fund, give a fund size or identify investors in the release.
The company said the permission supports its effort to connect institutional capital with digital assets and blockchain infrastructure. Its stated plans include tokenized assets and the use of AI agents in Web3 environments. Those are strategic aims, not investment returns or assets already raised under the new permission.
Minh Do, senior executive officer and director of the asset-management subsidiary, said the authorization allows it to manage collective investment funds under ADGM’s regulatory framework. He described it as a milestone for the group’s Middle East operations.
Permission covers a defined fund-management activity
ADGM Chief Market Development Officer Arvind Ramamurthy welcomed the company’s expansion into fund management, saying it strengthens links between institutional capital and digital assets in the financial center.
Animoca is known for building and investing in digital-asset businesses and platforms including The Sandbox, Moca Network and Open Campus. The company said its portfolio includes more than 600 companies and digital assets.
For the group, the practical change described Monday is the ability of its ADGM subsidiary to carry out the specified regulated fund-management activity. The release does not establish that the permission was granted on the announcement date, or that it authorizes every form of financial or crypto service.
The next developments to watch are any fund or product launches made under that permission. Monday’s release establishes the company’s announcement of the authorization, while leaving product terms, fundraising targets and launch timing unspecified.
