Amazon Web Services made OpenAI’s GPT-6.1 Terra generally available through Amazon Bedrock on Monday, adding another model option for businesses using AWS’s managed artificial-intelligence service.

Customers can call the model through Bedrock’s APIs or configure ChatGPT Work and Codex to use it on Bedrock, AWS said in its October 26 announcement.

The model accepts text and image inputs and supports a context window of up to one million input tokens. AWS described possible business uses including drafting proposals, interpreting technical drawings, examining software code and building agents that work across business systems.

AWS said input and output token prices are at least 50% below those of GPT-6.1 Sol and GPT-5.6 Terra. That comparison comes from the provider’s announcement; it is not a claim that every customer’s total bill would fall by half.

The company also cited OpenAI’s Agents’ Last Exam evaluation, saying Terra scored 15 percentage points above GPT-5.6 Terra and performed on par with GPT-6 Astra. Those are vendor-reported evaluation results, not independent tests.

The launch brings the model into an AWS environment where businesses can use existing access controls and audit model calls. AWS directed customers to its Bedrock documentation to check supported regions, endpoints, features and pricing before deployment.

The general-availability announcement concerns access through Amazon Bedrock. It does not specify that every model feature is available in every AWS region.
