Democrats won control of the U.S. Senate, according to The Associated Press and the Fox News Decision Desk, ending the Republican majority in the chamber.

In Iowa, Josh Turek defeated Republican Rep. Ashley Hinson; in Kansas, Adam Hamilton defeated Republican Sen. Roger Marshall.

The shift will reshape the final two years of President Donald Trump’s term. A Democratic Senate majority could block judicial and cabinet nominees and challenge the administration’s legislative agenda.

Official vote counting and certification continue after media race calls.

NBC News and CBS News also called Democratic control of the Senate. The final size of the majority remains unsettled.
