Yashar Party head and former IDF chief of staff Gadi Eisenkot warned on Friday that the government would be “leaving Hamas in power” under the Board of Peace’s new framework for implementing US President Donald Trump’s peace plan in Gaza.
In a post on X/Twitter, he described the framework as “the Netanyahu-Smotrich concept of preferring Hamas rule,” saying the methodology is what led to the October 7 massacre in 2023.
“The State of Israel must not accept a reality in which Hamas survives, rearms, and waits for the opportunity to carry out the next massacre!” he continued. “Israeli citizens deserve leadership that wins, tells the truth, and stands by its goals.”

The Likud Party responded in an X/Twitter post later on Friday, which Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu later shared.
The post accused Eisenkot of “capitulating” to Hamas with his demand for an IDF withdrawal from Gaza upon his resignation from the Knesset in 2025, calling his conduct “embarrassing.”
“Before the elimination of Deif, Haniyeh, Sinwar, Nasrallah, and the tremendous achievements against Iran, he attacks Prime Minister Netanyahu today by saying: ‘Israel must not reconcile itself with a reality in which Hamas survives,'” Likud wrote.

Former prime minister Naftali Bennett also responded to the Board of Peace (BoP)’s Gaza proposal, saying Qatar has “seized command” in the Strip while Netanyahu is “bowing his head and folding.”
Bennett: Hamas ‘growing stronger,’ must disarm before IDF withdrawal
“Hamas is growing stronger rapidly,” Bennett wrote in an X/Twitter post. “We must not allow agreements to be signed over our heads, and we must not budge a centimeter from the red line until Hamas is disarmed and the weapons are removed from Gaza.”

He added that Hamas must not be allowed to “store the weapons in warehouses when the keys are handed over to Qatar.”
Also on Friday, National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir wrote on X/Twitter that the BoP Gaza agreement is “not acceptable to Israel.”

Ben-Gvir described the proposed ceasefire as “tantamount to consenting for Hamas to regroup toward the next massacre.”
“The targeted killings in Gaza must continue, encouraging emigration must happen, Israel must win,” he added.
Source to ‘Post’: IDF will not withdraw without full Hamas disarmament
Earlier on Friday, a diplomatic source told The Jerusalem Post that the IDF will not withdraw from its current Yellow Line position in Gaza prior to Hamas’s full disarmament.
The BoP’s plan, proposed by US President Donald Trump, requires Hamas to surrender all its weaponry, which would then be stored and dismantled, several sources familiar with the matter told the Post.
The sources said the IDF will cease fire once the process begins, which would follow the current two-week ceasefire as the details of the plan are finalized.
