More details from the Fed’s interest rate determination in October 2026 will be provided in this story.

As policymakers waited for more financial data after raising rates in September, the Federal Reserve on Wednesday held its standard interest rate low despite higher inflation.

The Fed policymakers voted to leave the target range of 3. 75 % to 4 % after a vote of 10 to 2. The move comes in response to the main company’s initial interest rate increase since July 2023, which was 25 basis points higher in September.

Despite uncertainty, the Federal Open Market Committee ( FOMC), the panel overseeing monetary policy decisions, noted that while job growth has “kept pace with the workforce, and the unemployment rate has not significantly changed, the growth rate has not changed.

The FOMC added that while inflation is still high, the “accumulation of more information will help the Committee determine the coverage approach necessary to ensure a proper transfer of prices to the Committee’s 2 % purpose.” Value balance will be provided by the Committee.

Two people voted against the FOMC’s decision to leave interest rates unchanged, and Lisa Cook, the government of Cleveland, and Beth Hammack, the leader of the Fed, both of whom voted in favor of a 25 basis point increase.

At 2: 30 p.m. ET, the Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh may address the decision regarding the interest rate.
