Hamas remains the main obstacle to further improving the situation in the Gaza Strip, a senior official from the Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT) said on Sunday.
“The organization interferes with humanitarian operations, exploits civilian infrastructure, influences distribution mechanisms, and continues its repeated attempts to smuggle prohibited items under the guise of humanitarian aid,” the official said.
Since the beginning of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip in October 2025, the IDF has continued to facilitate the entry of humanitarian aid and goods into the Gaza Strip, in coordination with the UN and international organizations.
According to a COGAT analysis, the volume of aid entering the Gaza Strip significantly exceeds humanitarian needs as defined by UN agencies, international organizations, and assessments conducted throughout the war.
The COGAT official clarified that despite the analysis, “Israel will continue to work together with its international partners to improve the humanitarian response, while preventing its exploitation by Hamas at the expense of the residents of the Gaza Strip.”
According to the data, more than two million tons of food have entered the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the ceasefire, including meat, poultry, eggs, dairy products, fruits, and vegetables.
The data also shows that around 600 trucks enter the Gaza Strip every day, with 70% to 80% carrying food, while food prices have dropped by about 72%.
Currently, 41 bakeries run by international organizations operate in the Gaza Strip, producing more than three million pita breads per day, in addition to dozens of local bakeries.
Sixty liters of water per person enter Gaza each day, COGAT data shows
The data also showed that, on average, more than 70,000 cubic meters of water are supplied to the Gaza Strip each day, equivalent to more than 60 liters per person per day.
Around 250 water trucks operate daily, serving approximately 2,800 distribution points throughout the Gaza Strip.
In addition, more than 74,000 tons of hygiene and sanitation supplies have entered the Gaza Strip, alongside garbage disposal equipment and water purification tablets.
As noted, four water pipelines are currently operational in the Gaza Strip, three of which supply water from Israel. They operate alongside desalination facilities and dozens of water wells throughout the Strip.
Advanced medical equipment transferred to Gaza Strip
More than 21,000 tons of medical equipment have entered the Gaza Strip since the beginning of the ceasefire. According to COGAT data, hospital bed occupancy has increased by more than 50%. In coordination with international organizations, advanced medical equipment has been transferred into the Strip, including X-ray machines, generators, and oxygen tanks.
In northern Gaza, eight permanent hospitals, four field hospitals, and four medical centers are operating regularly. In the southern Gaza Strip, two permanent hospitals and eight field hospitals are operating.
