The Israel Electric Corporation (IEC) is preparing for possible increases in outages and infrastructure damage over the weekend, amid worsening weather conditions, the company announced on Thursday.

The IEC arranged for additional repair workers across Israel, as well as reinforcements for its hotline.

The public was asked to report any electrical outages and other issues, and was warned to stay away from downed power lines and notify the IEC immediately.

The IEC also recommended that Israelis who use life-saving electronic devices should be prepared with backup batteries in case of an extended power outage.

Magen David Adom also announced that it was preparing for the possibility of weather-related disruptions, saying that ambulances, 4×4 vehicles, all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), and specialized Unimog vehicles had been deployed in case of flooding.

Israel Police also announced that it would be prepared to provide optimal service to Israel’s citizens in the event of mass flooding or other weather-related incidents.

The police called for the public to drive carefully and remain aware of weather reports and risks.

Election Day rain leads to flooding, vote disruption

Last week, heavy rainfall on Election Day created dangerous conditions and led to flooding across southern Israel.

In Beersheba, parking lots and shopping malls flooded, and residents reported that several traffic lights stopped functioning.

Power outages caused by the weather also disrupted voting in Meitar, causing a polling station to be temporarily closed.
