ISRAEL – Israel’s Energy and Infrastructure Ministry said Thursday, November 5, that it had extended its energy partnership with Germany into 2027 during a German energy delegation’s visit to Israel, according to Reuters reporting published by Al Arabiya.
The renewal, the fifth consecutive year of cooperation, links the Israeli ministry with Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. The announced agenda covers emerging energy technologies, efficiency, gas infrastructure and protection against disruptions.
This is a renewal of a cooperation program, not an announcement of a funded power-plant contract or approval for a specific energy project. Reuters’ account did not give a budget, financing commitments or construction timetable.
From geothermal energy to apartment EV charging
The 2027 work plan includes geothermal energy and nuclear fusion technologies, regulatory exchanges on sustainable aviation fuel and cleaner fuels, and examination of underground natural gas storage and transport of natural gas and low-carbon gases, the ministry said, according to Reuters.
Other areas include making data centers more energy efficient, charging electric vehicles in apartment buildings, using heat pumps in buildings and applying artificial intelligence to electricity-grid management.
The breadth of the agenda puts established building and infrastructure issues alongside emerging technologies. It does not mean the two countries have authorized commercial deployment of every technology listed.
Cybersecurity and recovery are part of the agenda
The countries also plan to exchange expertise on cybersecurity for operational networks and cloud systems, digital sovereignty, spare-parts and fuel inventories, and recovery after attacks or other damage. Regulatory approaches are another area of cooperation.
That work concerns how energy systems are managed and restored as well as how energy is produced and consumed. The reported announcement did not identify a particular damaged facility or promise a quantified improvement in resilience.
The Israeli ministry said earlier exchanges had contributed to regulatory initiatives, policy implementation and projects in Israel through professional cooperation, joint exercises, visiting delegations and shared operational and emergency-response experience. Those are the ministry’s claims, as reported by Reuters; the account did not quantify savings, investment or other benefits.
For businesses, the announcement sets out the subjects the two governments intend to work on in 2027. It does not, on its own, establish procurement opportunities, subsidies or project permits.
