Israeli lawyer arrested after allegedly smuggling drugs to inmate during prison visit

Police arrested a lawyer from Beit Shemesh on Tuesday on suspicion of attempting to smuggle a substance suspected to be drugs to an inmate during a prison visit.

According to the allegations, the lawyer arrived for a meeting with a prisoner she represents and attempted to hand over the suspected drugs during the meeting.

According to Ynet, the lawyer attempted to smuggle 30 pills to the inmate, who was recently arrested in connection with a high-profile fraud case. 

When meeting with him, she gave him a hug and allegedly slipped the bag containing drugs into his hand. The moment was captured on the prison’s security cameras.

Lawyer interrogated, arrested on scene

The Israel Prison Service seized the substance, and officers from the Sadot station in the Central District promptly arrested the lawyer following her interrogation.

The items seized during the operation were handed over for further processing by the police.
