Republican Rep. Julia Letlow is projected to defeat Democrat Jamie Davis for Louisiana’s U.S. Senate seat, keeping it in Republican hands.

Letlow would succeed Republican Sen. Bill Cassidy, who lost his bid for renomination earlier this year. She finished ahead of Cassidy in the GOP primary before winning a runoff against state Treasurer John Fleming.
