Democratic Rep. Marcy Kaptur is projected to win reelection to the U.S. House in Ohio’s 9th Congressional District, according to The Associated Press, CBS News and NBC News.
AP projected the result early Wednesday. Kaptur’s reelection keeps the seat in Democratic hands.
Kaptur defeated Republican Derek Merrin in a rematch, CBS reported. The longest-serving woman in Congress, she has held the seat since 1983.
A media race call is not official election certification.
