Elon Musk says SpaceX’s yearly revenue pace could top $500 billion by December 2027, up from a pace of more than $100 billion he expects this December. He called the 2027 figure his best guess, not a promise.

Musk made the remarks Friday in a conversation at the Baron Investment Conference. He said SpaceX is tracking to an annual rate of revenue “in excess of 100 billion” dollars in December. He then said “it seems quite likely that our annual recurring revenue in December of next year will exceed 500 billion,” and added: “This is not a promise… This is my best guess.”

What the number means

Both numbers are forecasts from Musk, not revenue SpaceX has reported. Musk described a revenue rate at a particular point in time, rather than total sales over a full year. Reaching that rate in December 2027 would not mean SpaceX recorded $500 billion in revenue during 2027.

Who is affected

SpaceX shareholders, and anyone weighing whether to buy shares, are the people most affected, because they are judging forecasts like this against what the company has actually reported.

In plain words: Musk is predicting that SpaceX will be selling at a pace of more than $500 billion a year by the end of next year. He says it is his best guess, not something he is promising.
