An attempted arson took place in Golders Green, London, in the early hours of Tuesday morning, community security group Shomrim reported.
Residents of a block of flats on Bridge Lane, NW11, reported witnessing a suspect deliberately start a fire in a communal stairwell before fleeing when challenged.
A resident acted swiftly to extinguish the fire, and as such, no injuries were reported.
The majority of residents of the building are Jewish, and many are young families.

Shomrim attend scene, recover evidence
Shomrim said it attended the scene, recovered evidence believed to belong to the suspect, and is assisting the Metropolitan Police with CCTV inquiries.
The Jerusalem Post reached out to the police for comment.
