President Donald Trump said Sunday that he has a "concept of a deal" with Canada and had spoken with Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, according to a White House press pool report from Dubuque, Iowa.
Trump made the comments to reporters after leaving Air Force One, before a campaign appearance. The pool report did not provide terms of a potential agreement or say that a deal had been signed.
The remarks offered a fresh signal about the direction of U.S.-Canada trade talks, but did not establish any change in tariffs or other trading rules for businesses.
