Unconventional AI said Monday it had signed a definitive agreement to acquire NeuReality, an Israeli company that develops hardware and software for running artificial intelligence systems. The deal will bring NeuReality’s chip and systems engineering team into the U.S. startup as it works toward more energy-efficient AI computing.

Both companies’ boards have approved the transaction, which is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, subject to customary conditions, Unconventional said in its October 26 announcement. The announcement did not disclose a purchase price.

NeuReality is based in Caesarea, Israel. Its team has spent seven years designing, building and deploying infrastructure for AI inference, the process of running trained AI models to produce results. Its work focuses on the coordination and movement of data across a system, which can add to the cost of delivering AI services.

The acquisition adds engineers working in system architecture, semiconductor design and AI systems software. NeuReality chief executive and co-founder Moshe Tanach and the company’s founding team will join Unconventional. The buyer says it intends to keep NeuReality’s engineering presence in Israel.

Unconventional is developing a computing architecture that it says targets a 1,000-fold improvement in AI computing efficiency compared with conventional designs. That figure is a development target, not a performance result established by the acquisition announcement.

The company says reaching its goal requires work across device physics, chip architecture and AI models together. Chief executive and co-founder Naveen Rao described the challenge as a systems problem as well as a physics problem, and said adding NeuReality’s team would speed its development roadmap.

The announcement does not give a date for commercial production. It identifies the expected closing window for the acquisition, rather than a launch timetable for Unconventional’s proposed computing system.
