The United States struck Iranian targets in Goruk and Qeshm Island, both located along the Strait of Hormuz, US Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on Monday on X/Twitter.

According to CENTCOM, the attacks were in response to Iran’s downing of an American MQ-1 Reaper drone.

The IRGC later confirmed the US had targeted an air base used in what it called a US attack on a telecoms tower on Sirik Island, but did not give the location of the base.

No US personnel were harmed in the strike, CENTCOM confirmed.

Sirens sound in Kuwait

Also on Monday, Kuwait’s air defense systems worked to intercept missile and drone attacks, according to its official X account.

The Kuwaiti Army said that its air defenses were “currently confronting hostile missile and drone attacks.”

“The General Staff of the Army notes that if explosion sounds are heard, they result from the air defense systems intercepting the hostile attacks,” the statement added.

No immediate reports of casualties or damage were available.
