Whirlpool reported a $249 million third-quarter loss Monday as appliance sales fell and higher costs weighed on its business, while the company announced another round of price increases in North America and Latin America.

The appliance maker’s net sales declined 8.8% to $3.68 billion from $4.03 billion a year earlier. Its loss was $3.80 per diluted share, compared with earnings of $73 million, or $1.29 a share, in the third quarter of 2025, according to its earnings release.

Whirlpool’s ongoing earnings measure, which excludes certain items and is not calculated under generally accepted accounting principles, showed a loss of 21 cents a share. Its ongoing operating margin was 2.6%, down from 4.5% a year earlier.

In North America, major domestic appliance sales fell 8.3% to $2.50 billion. Segment earnings before interest and taxes fell to $74 million from $134 million. Whirlpool said soft industry demand hurt sales, while inflation in raw materials, fuel and logistics partly offset the benefit of earlier price increases and cost cuts.

The company announced a 7% North American price increase effective in the fourth quarter. In Latin America, where reported sales rose 6.9% but segment earnings declined, it announced price increases of up to 10% across the region.

The results come with a revised full-year outlook calling for a GAAP loss of approximately $4.95 a share and an ongoing loss of approximately $1.30 a share. Those figures are management forecasts, not results already achieved.

Whirlpool maintained its full-year free-cash-flow target of approximately $300 million, a non-GAAP measure, and said it now expects year-end net debt below $4.5 billion. Cash used in operating activities totaled $826 million in the first nine months of the year.

The company will discuss the results on a conference call Tuesday, October 27, at 8 a.m. Eastern time.
