A scheduled meeting of President Trump’s outside science and technology advisers was called off Friday, delaying a forum that includes leaders of Nvidia, Meta, AMD and Oracle as Washington debates AI development. An Energy Department spokesperson confirmed the cancellation, according to a report.
The meeting was to bring together the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, known as PCAST, an outside panel that advises the president. Members include Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, AMD CEO Lisa Su, Oracle Chief Technology Officer Larry Ellison and Andreessen Horowitz co-founder Marc Andreessen. Its co-chairs are venture capitalist David Sacks and White House tech adviser Michael Kratsios.
A new date is unsettled
The Energy Department’s meeting website briefly listed Nov. 13 as the new date, then the department emailed to retract it, the report said. A federal notice published Friday still lists a rescheduled meeting on Friday, Nov. 13, from noon to 1 p.m. ET. The two do not match, so the date is not settled.
What the panel was set to do
The original meeting announcement said the panel would advise the administration’s new AI task force, called the “Super Intelligence Task Force,” which includes cabinet officials, Trump appointees and White House staff, according to the report. The Federal Register notice describes the meeting as virtual and livestreamed.
In plain words: the White House’s tech advisers did not meet Friday as planned, and the next date is unclear.
