Nvidia plans to invest $3 billion in Meta’s equity offering as the companies expand their work together on AI models and the computing systems that run them.

The chipmaker announced the proposed investment alongside a broader partnership focused on Meta’s Muse family of models. The companies plan to work on improving both training, when a model is developed, and inference, when it responds to users.

Meta intends to expand its use of Nvidia’s Vera Rubin systems and Vera central processing units, according to Nvidia’s announcement. It also plans to deploy Nvidia’s Spectrum-X networking and BlueField-4 technology to support data movement across its computing infrastructure.

The companies are considering additional work on tools for deploying AI agents safely and monitoring their behavior. Those possible collaborations are separate from the infrastructure expansion described in the announcement.

The $3 billion investment has not been described as completed. Nvidia’s release identifies the proposed investment and its anticipated completion as forward-looking statements, subject to risks and any applicable closing conditions.

The new announcement follows Meta’s launch of about $35 billion in equity offerings. In that earlier announcement, Nvidia, AMD and Broadcom had indicated nonbinding interest in buying up to a combined $5 billion of Meta’s Class A shares. Nvidia’s latest release names its own planned investment amount.

Nvidia did not give a completion date for the investment in the announcement.
