OpenAI and ServiceNow are expanding their partnership to connect corporate workflows with ChatGPT and Codex, with a ServiceNow plugin available now and more security, voice and software-development features planned through 2027.

The October 28 announcement from OpenAI describes a broader push to let employees investigate problems and act on company systems from an AI conversation. ServiceNow also plans to give all employees access to ChatGPT Work and Codex, expanding use beyond its engineering organization.

What is available now

OpenAI says the ServiceNow MCP plugin is available in its marketplace today. Enhanced capabilities are expected by the end of 2026. The announcement does not say that every feature in the expanded partnership is already available.

The companies describe a new integration that will bring ServiceNow business context and workflow actions into ChatGPT. In one example, an IT employee would find similar incidents, assess the risk of a change and update a ServiceNow record without leaving the conversation.

Customers connect ChatGPT to their own ServiceNow instance and select which capabilities to make available. OpenAI says ServiceNow’s Action Fabric applies existing business rules and permissions, meaning available actions depend on the customer’s configuration and access controls.

Security and coding features follow later

The planned cybersecurity work would combine OpenAI capabilities with ServiceNow information about assets, identities and business operations to help teams investigate vulnerabilities, rank risks and coordinate fixes.

Those security capabilities are expected to enter early access in January 2027, with general availability planned for the second quarter. The announcement does not present those dates as completed deployments.

A planned Codex integration in ServiceNow’s AI Workflow Factory would help developers build applications using ServiceNow business context. OpenAI models would also power Build Agent and Autonomous Engineer for development and modernization. Codex in AI Workflow Factory is expected in 2027.

Voice features in ServiceNow’s Super Intelligence Control Tower are expected in the first quarter of 2027. The proposed experience would let a person describe an AI use case aloud, with the system helping fill assessment fields and ask follow-up questions.

An expansion of an existing agreement

The companies already announced a multi-year collaboration on January 20. That agreement covered access to OpenAI models, customized ServiceNow AI applications and work on speech-to-speech technology.

Wednesday’s announcement adds product-specific plans, an employee-wide access commitment and a staged availability timetable. OpenAI also says it is using ServiceNow workflows in its own operations.

The October 28 announcement does not disclose a new contract value or price for the expanded integrations. Its rollout dates remain company plans; customers will need the relevant capabilities and permissions enabled in their own systems.
