Republican Rep. Andy Barr is projected to win Kentucky’s U.S. Senate race against Democrat Charles Booker, the Fox News Decision Desk reported Tuesday night.

Barr would succeed retiring Republican Sen. Mitch McConnell, keeping the seat in Republican hands. McConnell announced in February 2025 that he would not seek another term, according to Fox.

Barr entered the Senate contest after serving in the House. He secured President Donald Trump’s endorsement in May and has pledged to support the president’s legislative agenda, Fox reported.

His Democratic opponent is Kentucky state lawmaker Charles Booker, not New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker. Fox posted its projection at 9 p.m. Eastern.

This is a media race projection, not a certified election result. This report includes no vote totals or margin, and the Kentucky outcome alone does not determine control of the Senate.
