Democrat Josh Turek defeated Republican Rep. Ashley Hinson in Iowa’s U.S. Senate election, according to The Associated Press and the Fox News Decision Desk.
The victory is a Democratic pickup and part of the party’s path to regaining the Senate majority. Both AP and Fox reported Democratic victories in Iowa, Kansas, Texas, South Carolina, Ohio and North Carolina.
The Iowa call is a media race call, not election certification.
