Democrat Bobby Pulido is projected to flip Texas’s 15th Congressional District, defeating Republican Rep. Monica De La Cruz in a closely watched South Texas race.
Fox News projected Pulido’s victory, and CBS News projected that he would defeat De La Cruz. The Associated Press and NBC News had not yet called the race, and De La Cruz had not conceded.
Pulido, an award-winning Tejano singer who ran as a conservative Democrat, declared victory early Wednesday.
The result is a Democratic gain in a Republican-held seat.
The result is a media race call, not election certification.
