Dow futures jumped 724 points, or 1.4%, early Wednesday, November 4, 2026, as US stock futures extended their rebound from overnight losses following the Democratic sweep of Congress. S&P 500 and Nasdaq-100 futures were each about 1% higher in CNBC’s update at 5:26 a.m. Eastern.
The fresh snapshot shows a stronger recovery than the earlier 4:15 a.m. reading, when Dow futures were up 359 points and S&P 500 and Nasdaq-100 futures were each about 0.3% higher. Futures indicate expectations ahead of the 9:30 a.m. stock-market opening; they are not gains already booked in the cash indexes.
Gold and silver also rose sharply. Spot gold traded at $4,043.45 an ounce, up 2.93%, and spot silver at $51.98, up 4.44%, at 5:05 a.m. Eastern, according to CNBC. Those are spot-metal prices, not futures-contract settlements.
For people with retirement or investment accounts, the rebound suggests a firmer start for stock holdings after a rough night, but the opening bell has not rung and the direction can still change. Rising gold and silver prices mean those holdings are worth more at the quoted prices; they do not guarantee further gains.
The dollar was weaker in the overnight session. In an earlier CME snapshot at about 4:15 a.m. Eastern, the euro traded near $1.1274, up about 0.6% against the dollar, according to CME Group. That currency reading is earlier than the latest stock-futures snapshot.
Futures had fallen sharply late Tuesday as results pointed to a Democratic sweep that will put Hakeem Jeffries in line to become House speaker.
